WHERE DO WE WANT TO BRING IN MEXICO?

know that reality is constituted by processes of short, medium and long term, and that understanding them is what will give us clues to, for example, answer the question that all Mexicans to do in these times of uncertainty, hopelessness and impunity: where will the country? However, sometimes this is good analysis combining diachronic and synchronic cross one: taking a picture of a conjunctural moment, although it is only a part of everything, also contains within itself the whole. Last week in Mexico seemed especially significant to take that picture of Mexican reality today. Reproduce here some quotes from national newspapers (La Jornada, Chronicle and process), which reflects the real contradictions that permeate many top national players. The entries cover three basic themes: justice, war and political class, no desire to interpretations or negativism, in turn omitted other key issues because we want to focus now look at this relationship cupular strategy. We propose, instead, an exercise to the reader to relate to each other quotations, first by subject and then combining the issues, and from the observable or unobservable found to move towards some questions and assumptions Mexico where does it go?

1. The trap of our daily war.
be struck by the statement of the PRI, through his deputy George C. Ramirez, who revealed in the House "that Mexico is ranked as the most violent country without war in the world" (25 January), while "The federal government built a military barracks near the San Jose ranch, owned by the family of Margarita Zavala, and resting place of President "(January 22). If there is no war, how conceptualized then the next social event?: "A group of Indians PRI armed with firearms and machetes (OPDDIC) ... last Thursday invaded lands of the Zapatista community of Bolon Ajaw "(Good Government Snail Rainbow Heart of Hope, January 25, there was another attack on those days Montes Azules). At the same time, paradoxically, in those days the employers themselves, very long war to the Zapatistas, declared that follow "Outstanding causes of the rebellion of the EZLN: Coparmex" (19 January).
Meanwhile, civil society is caught in the crossfire and the terror: while some manage numbers' tranquilizers' how to 'The number of deaths related to crime, similar to that of 98 "(Genaro Garcia Luna, SSP, 22 January), the press shows another face of the country," reports the murder of 32 people ... in six states. Attack by an armed group of Sinaloa police facilities (20 and 22 January), this latter is closely linked to that "In three months have given up 145 police officers in Ciudad Juarez, for fear" (24 January). In turn, the side of crime "Dejan severed head and a flower on the grave of The Boss of Bosses, Sinaloa (18 January). Respect to the other side, on the one hand testimony "egregious abuses of soldiers operating in anti-crime" (Human Rights Watch, January 21), and, secondly, the authorities deny this, stating that "military doctrine is the unrestricted respect for human rights" (Gen Benito Medina, dir. In Military Education and Dean, 21 January).
In addition, there is the other war, the hunger, "On the threshold of poverty 40 million Mexicans (37.5% of the population)" (Centre for Social Policy and DH, 18 January); "inflation soars highest level in 11 years "(Banxico, 23 January).

2. I do not see, not hear, do not talk.
face of all this growing social violence of various kinds, people do not cease to wonder about how to defend, the rule of law and the administration of justice. For First, we see then the covenants and simulations among the political class: "No federal authorities have opened any investigation against officials of my government" (Marco Adame, Governor, January 22, for more information see Process 01/10/1910 ), "Puerto 1 Agreement: Representatives of the Executive and Legislative branches of Morelos establish their operational support to federal, state or city to contribute to peace and tranquility of the Morelos, however, requires the authorities of the three tiers of government respect for human rights and individual rights ... 2 - Where the exercise of security functions are committed excesses, to investigate ... 5 - Support any research ... on public servants ... "(23 January).
On the other hand, the awful reality of those who are not in the agreement: "Mexico, the most dangerous country in the region to defenders of rights" (Amnesty International Report 2009, 22 January), "Unpunished 98% of homicides of journalists and human rights: UN "(January 20).

3. Gain nothing to lose everything. Lack of hope
citizens in the activities of the institutions of the judiciary and executive, it could perhaps be offset by positive actions of the political class of the legislature. And instead, we are the Leopard (Change to keep things equal) more cynical of the last decades in Mexico, to the extent that a party may not know the president of the republic, but agree with the party chief of the president, disguising corruption of pragmatism. A linguistic juggling side to hide his ideology: "The partnerships that are being considered with the NAP are to change the reality in some states with very hard chiefdoms" (Manuel Camacho, 22 January). "To convince the left needs to triumph, not only ideologies" (M. Camacho, 24 January). "In the PAN-PRD alliance puts pragmatism is not the ideological tradition of blue and white" (S. Creel, 24 January). In turn, the side attacked, criticized what they have invented "political promiscuity wedding PRD-PAN" (Manlio Beltrones, 24 January).

4. The doors close, the function will begin.
As this social process, installed from above, moving rapidly in our country, the contradictions between the actors are becoming more transparent and difficult to justify publicly, thereby increasing the arbitrary use of violence and simulation discursive material to maintain control of power. In Mexico we can see how the spaces of justice, peace and politics are increasingly closing, beginning a concealment of reality and a dangerous normalization of war and militarization. Political events that apparently want to sell in the media as opening up and modernization, they are really brutal regressions and closure spaces: why supposedly liberal opposition is giving the election of 2012 the PRI? or does it mean something different possible PRD-PAN alliance to defeat the PRI supposedly in 2010?

begs the question about who is in Mexico-and out-is pushing part of civil society and social movements to the spiral of violence, the trap of war, despair, which many different actors have called "pop social? Our society is being treacherously towards their target vigilantes attacked and injected with fear and terror in many cases, in order to achieve its immobility, passive complicity and disappointment. It is the guarantee are fulfilled the prophecy of war and the victory of Leopard.

5. Censorship unpunished Radio and TV of Congress in Morelos.
As a corollary, a subject that touches us closely as civil society, although not on the scale of what we have to think, no longer part of the same process for the closure of civilian areas. Take a picture with greater zoom into our reality Morelos. It is almost a month in a totally arbitrary, repressive and unpunished a local deputy (Omar Guerra at the top) and directors of the Radio and TV of Congress, canceled several programs produced and very heard by civil society Morelos: Word Game, Red Migrant Diversalia, So far so near, and so on. This outrageous censorship is perfectly consistent with the recent request from President Calderón to the ambassadors: "Speak well of the country", and of course any invitation to develop independent and critical thinking, as these programs-is a threat to power.

This is very serious, but there are other unobservable that is not minor: where is the solidarity and struggle of civil society at such Morelos injustice? Where are the actions of members of other programs in this state radio and other media? I wonder if there is a progressive state individual or organization that was once but has not used any of these programs to address their needs, demands and opinions. I'm pretty sure none. No doubt we are in an age where power and influence of the media is enormous, to the extent even of deciding elections as in 2006, therefore can not be treated lightly the consequences of this censorship. Hence, we ask ourselves as civil society: how can we normalize and social liabilities to the fact that the political party most ignorant, uneducated and repressive state take away the right to make our voices heard to a wider audience? Will we then fight through the media? We should not forget the warning that we did Hannah Arendt about the effectiveness of state terror to settle depends on the "degree of social atomization. All types of organized opposition has disappeared .... " Pietro
